Attending a track practice after school, Ruqayya Jayah (11) jumps hurdles. Jayah had been doing hurdles since fifth grade, her main event was the 300 hurdle. “I like it, a lot of people don’t because it sounds painful,” Jayah said. “I like hurdles and I like the 400 so it’s kind of like combining both of them.” Her biggest strength was keeping a positive mindset even after a bad race.

Cameren Leipzig is a junior and It is her first year on The Blaze staff, she helps by writing stories, designing spreads and photographing events. She is in the Communications Academy on the digital media track.
She enjoys music and is involved in her school's audition girls choir. She also manages her school varsity girls basketball team, going to practice everyday after school and on weekends, and games 2-3 times a week.
