Homecoming queen candidate Madelyn Johnson (12) cheers as they announce fellow candidate Marley Kirby (12) as the queen at the annual fall pep assembly on Oct 10. As Kirby stepped forward, last year’s queen Cassie Lallo came up to crown her. “It was totally shocking,” Kirby said, “I think I hoped I would win, but I was almost trying to not get my hopes up.”

About the Contributor
Carisa Liwanag, Yearbook Staff
Carisa Liwanag, junior, is in her second year in the Communications Academy and in her first year of yearbook.
Liwanag loved taking photos ever since she got her hands on a camera. During these years, she had realized that photography could be a field of work she could try after taking photojournalism in her sophomore year.
Outside of school, she loves to read webnovels in her free time, hang out with her big sister and play with her dogs. Although she is a heavy introvert, she attempts to try her best to leave her shell to find what she wants for her future.
Liwanag’s main goal is to find a suitable college to attend and find her true path, wanting to make her mother proud.
“I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I can only keep moving forward with a positive mindset.” Liwanag said.
